Arboga is a town where you can still spot knights, especially during the Medieval Days. One of the knights from modern times, knight Rickard of Arboga, was especially known for his dazzling charm which many (especially the ladies) was enchanted by. However, a sudden and inglourious dispute forced Rickard to leave his beloved Arboga, and no one has seen him ever since.
Many of us are still wondering why Rickard disappeared. Did he escape to Köping on his horse? Was he abducted by the Kingdom of Kungsör? It is a well known fact that Rickard loved a good party, so maybe he took a schrimp boat cruise on Hjälmaren? We are quite sure that Rickard wanted us to know what happened, and that he planted a number of clues for us. SMALLTOWN MYSTERIES® is an analog walking activity where you look for clues, answer questions and solve the riddle. The walk is outdoors in an urban environment among streets and squares and takes about an hour, preferably ending over a coffee.
The mystery consists of an envelope with a folder that you order to your mailbox and solve when it suits you. Some City Mysteries are also available as a web app for your mobile phone. The same structure but no waiting times with the mail! In some cities you can also buy Smalltown Mysteries on site.
How does it work?
In the first part, you look for clues during a walk in the city. You write down the answers in the folder or on your phone. In the second part, you will then have to figure out the solution. This is best done at a local café or similar. Don’t forget a pen!
How long is it?
A mystery walk usually takes about 45-60 minutes to walk. A walk is usually a few kilometers long in total, it varies between cities.
Can you do it anytime?
You solve the mystery when it suits you and are not tied to any day or time. But keep in mind that clues can be hidden/disappeared in snow. Bare ground and daylight are perfect mystery weather!

How old should you be?
To get the most out of it, we recommend that you be over 10 years old in adult company. It depends on the complexity of the questions and wording. Without adult company, 14-15 years old can be a guideline.
We get many comments that the activity is suitable for the whole family, even smaller children appreciate being involved in looking for clues. But with smaller children it is also about how far they can walk.
How does it work with a wheelchair and stroller?
Our mysteries are located in city centers, you make your way around streets and squares. In some cases, you may have to climb stairs to see individual clues. But the answer is always there to help, if you need to skip a clue.
How many could we be?
A mystery envelope is best suited for 1-3 players so everyone gets involved. If you are a big gang, we recommend that you buy additional mysteries and compete against each other, who can solve it the fastest? You need one mystery envelope per team.
